Kombucha may be sold as an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage. All producers are required to record the alcohol present in kombucha throughout production, including any fermentation that continues after bottling.

The new Ethanol (Liquid Ready) Assay Kit (K-ETOHLQR) accords with AOAC Method 2017.07 and uses liquid reagents for maximum convenience.

This kit is based on a simplified reaction that results in less interference from environmental ethanol often present in the laboratory. Analyst error is also reduced due to lower sample dilution.

How our Ethanol Assay Kits work

Both assay kits are based on a reaction in which formation of NADH is stochiometric with the quantity of ethanol. NADH is then measured by the increase in absorbance at 340 nm.
